Solo Exhibition, She Bam!, Spinnerei Leipzig
The exhibition »Kissing Without Penetration« explores
the significance of proximity and distance, belonging
and isolation in a globalized and atomized
society within the highly digitized world, reflecting
on the initial months of the pandemic. Four
portrait drawings depict the upper bodies of people
from our time, somehow connected yet alone.
Instead of faces, the hands and folds of clothing
speak, revealing thin and precise lines that
repeatedly unveil details: connection tools, dating
apps, WiFi symbols, or old-fashioned Tamagotchis.
These tools of connection evoke hopes
and transport us into a surreal and artificial environment.
Both the fragmented wallpaper and the
subtly perceptible sound collage of messenger
sounds amplify the sense of separation or the
quest for connection between paradise and
nowhere.
